Willow crochet square baby blanket... and crochet lace news!

Willow square by Jan Eaton was one of my favorite crochet motifs when I began to write this blog and meet other crocheters on the net.

Cuando empecé a escribir este blog y a conocer a otras ganchilleras en la red, uno de los primeros motivos de ganchillo que realmente me fascinó fue el Willow square, un diseño de Jan Eaton.

Encontré, además, tal infinidad de maravillosas mantas de ganchillo hechas con este motivo que deseé tener inmediatamente la mía. Decidí la combinación de colores que quería usar, compré la lana y me puse manos a la obra enseguida. Pero, por un motivo u otro, nunca conseguía terminarla. Centraba la atención en nuevos proyectos y la manta Willow iba pasando por sucesivos periodos de hibernación. Ahora pienso que seguramente me sucedía esto porque la manta aún no había encontrado una destinataria...

Moreover, I found so many wonderful Willows square blankets in amazing color schemes that I wished to crochet one for my own. So I decided my color scheme, bought the yarn and quickly got down to work. But, for one reason or another, I never managed to finish it. I focused on new projects and my Willow blanked went through successive periods of hibernation. Now I think that it probably happened because this blanket hadn't yet found its owner ...

... y su destinataria finalmente apareció: Ella es Sofía (sí, la segunda Sofía en la vecindad), hija de unos amigos muy queridos, que acaba de nacer. Retomé esté proyecto dos meses antes de su nacimiento y cuando Sofía llegó al mundo, mi Willow square blanket ya estaba esperando a su nueva dueña. ¡Una larga espera, sin duda!

... and finally its owner appeared: She is Sofia (yes, the second Sofia in the neighborhood), daughter of a couple of very dear friends. I took up this project again two months before her birth and when Sophia came into the world, my Willow square blanket was already waiting for her new owner. A long wait, indeed!

My blanket in details:

Blanket measure: 95x95 cm (38"x38")
Material: Sport yarn / 5 ply
 - 300 gr color Ivory aprox.
 - 250 gr in four shades of pink aprox.
Hook: 3 mm
Pattern: I've followed the Jan Eaton's Willow square motif you can find here.
Total: 49 squares: 25 squares in shades of pink and 24 squares in ivory.
Squares joining method: Invisible seam (sewing).
Border: Moss stitch (5 rounds) + hdc bubble stitch (1 round).

Detalles de mi manta:

Medidas: 95x95 cm (38"x38")
Material: Lana Sport / 5 ply
 - 300 gr color marfil aprox.
 - 250 gr en 4 tonos de rosa aprox.
Hook: 3 mm
Pattern: Seguí el patrón de Jan Eaton's Willow square motif que puedes encontrar aquí.
Total: 49 cuadrados: 25 cuadrados en los 4 tonos de rosa y 24 en marfil.
Método de unión de los cuadrados: Puntada invisible (cosido).
Puntilla: Punto de arroz (5 vueltas) + medio punto alto bubble stitch (1 vuelta).
